How does a person with a bad temper…?
November 28th, 2008 by adminHow does a person with a bad temper learn to shut up and stop living by their emotional rants? How does one calm themselves down and all?
Some of these people have mental disorders/ need medication for a chemical imbalance, or they can be dissociative. You practically need to remain calm and not react to their blow ups, pretty much like ignoring them, walking away from nasty, and say things like: There is no need to get upset, in a very soft voice, at the same time using your hands making a sign to tone it down like if you were pushing down a beach ball, or something or almost as though you were petting a dog or a cat. People calm down and realize they are making a big stink, it makes them realize they are acting like donkeys.
Many times people do need to deal with psychological issues and mental disorders, such as dissociative disorder or Dissociative identity disorders.
Other times, they simply need to stop making excuses for their unacceptable nasty behavior! Excuses are boring.
Hope it helped.

Thats a toughy. I was married to one of those. He was manic but refused medications or help so I had to leave as the abuse only got worse and was not healthy to my 4 yr old at the time nor myself. His rages got worse and worse (very physical to). I would say find out what triggers them and try to avoid those until it can be dealt with. Read more books on anger and psychology. That may help some. I never understood how that can feel good, but I tried to help him and could not he had to want to change himself and gain better self control. I wish you luck!

This sounds like the wrong answer, but have you considered taking martial arts? I like Tae Kwan Do. It changes the way you think, the way you handle stress, and your attitude toward everything around you. Has a little to do with meditation, a lot to do with aerobic exercise.

My ex-wife was manic or bipolar and it seemed that it was Totally up to her. I could be dragged into her shouting at me for asking how her day was. I did have some positive calming results if I could bring up something that meant a lot to her, and how she needed to set a example for that reason. The person has to recognize how they are behaving is unacceptable and want to change that behavior.
