How do you temper and reshape metal?

I just wanted to know how to reshape and temper metal such as copper, iron and steel. Am I just supposed to hit it into shape when it's red hot?
I really, really wnat to know how to reshape it.

First heat the metal to a great temperature. When its red hot it'll bend really easily, If you have thick gloves you might shape it with your hands, otherwise you can hit it or use pliars. If it cools down it'll get harder but is still possible. just hit harder. When it cools down it'll get brittle though so be careful.
