How would you respond to your child having a temper tantrum and throwing a toy through the TV screen?
June 10th, 2009 by adminNot a modern flat-panel TV, but an old analog non-DTV-ready TV set
I'm not a parent, but I know of someone whose 3-year old son did that.
How one would respond to this is entirely dependent upon the age of the child.

does it really matter what kind of t.v. it was? I do not know how you handled the situration, but if it was my child i would spank and explain that we do not throw fits and throw things. It is unexceptable.

I would be mad but it really depends on the age of the child as to how I would discipline. It could be anything from a time out to a light swat on their behind. It wouldn't matter if the TV was brand new or not.

If it was my new tv I'd send the chiild to nanas for a couple days. They would be best not around me.
Anything else, same thing take away the toy and send her to timeout. Ask her to use her words.

Doesn't matter if I bought yesterday or 20 years ago he would get a spanking and if it was the living room TV I would not replace it for at least a month

I would say, "My goodness, you are angry!" Then I would clean up the mess. Don't want a three year old handling glass.
Then I would help the three year old find other ways to handle his anger.
All the best.
