How do you handle a full blown temper tantrum?

    you can try ignoring it and let them have it. once they realize they aren't getting the attention they want it should subside. then you can talk to them. the first time it will take a while.

    sometimes that's just not an option. if they are under age 3 and over 8 months get a washcloth, soak it in cold water walk over and toss it on their face. and i mean toss, so that it's smooth and flat and covers their entire face, it shouldn't hurt them in anyway. the shock of it should jolt them out of the temper tantrum and put control back in your hands, though they may still cry a little.

    if they're over the age of 3 go for a glass of cold water, about 4 ounces should do it, and same thing just toss it in their face (the water, not the cup). at this age temper tantrums are more ridiculous and understanding better.
