How do you deal with a moody(male)boss. One day he's all smiles, the next he is throwing a temper tantrum.

have a bottle of MIDOL or PAMPRIN gift wrapped and anonomously delivered. Maybe he'll catch on. (don't hold your breath)

Give him alot of space on both days. Treat him the same way on both days, but if it continues I would drop a note to the HR Dept., make sure his behavior is noted somewhere. Most of the times the individual does not know that they are affecting their dept. Because they are mgmt. they think that they can act any way they want and get away with it. I have the same issue here, instead it is a (she).

I would suggest taking a seminar on how to deal with difficult people.
Go to Career Tracks website at:

I took this seminar as I was having the same problem and LOVED my job but hated my boss. It was to the point I wanted to quit. This seminar really helped me not only with dealing with my boss but with customers, coworkers and family.
Otherwise, how well do you get a long with your boss? Maybe sit down with him and find out what is irritating him.

You can just pretend nothing happened and ignore him when he has bad mood. Don't ask him any question until he has the next smiles again.
