How can I learn how to control my temper, without paying a therapist?

I've been really prone to arguments lately, and some little things set me off. I'm pissing off friends and family, and i can't control myself. Even my boyfriend is getting tired of listening to me…..

Find something you can focus on when you'd get mad. Like, find a rock and rub your thumb against it or use a stress ball. Just something to focus that energy on besides the argument. Try to explain your perspective more calmly by focusing on something else at first.

Or, have something to do with your mind. Count to 10, list the countries of Africa, whatever makes you think but not too hard…

Basically think of something else and get your mind cleared out before confronting anyone. Also, think about if it's worth it to point out or argue your point to someone…

    basics tips think before you talk. if you feel like your getting angry step away from the situation give our self a breather.Maybe its also stress induced so why don't you try distressing yourself. Also sometimes you don't have to talk back just let it go and later on when you feel like letting it go write down it helps release anger. Try doing more things you enjoy. Also if you do get into a argument apologize for your action even if you were in the right in getting it.hopes that this helps . Good luck with controlling your temper.

    Anger is a build up of emotions. Once you feel your self becoming a little angry stop and count to 10, think about what will I benfit from becoming angry and yelling… Breathe and think happy thoughts.

    Keep being prone to unnecessary arguments. Sooner or later you'll start one with the right person. After a good beatdown one usually learns to not let their mouth write a check that their a@@ cant cash. And it will be absolutely free.

    instead of talking a lot, take a brak and watch tv or read a good book. try to clear your mind of all things that make you tense. things wil get a lot better soon. it worked for me! (i still get in trouble for getting so angry though, but once i read or watch tv, its all better.
